Early on this year, ICPC colleagues Mauro Santaniello & Chiara Spiniello published their essay reviewing the growing literature on techno-feudalism, titled “For a critique of techno-feudalism”. In it they argue that by
- situating the notion within the broader transfor-mations of the digital sphere;
- reconceptualising the relationship between the state and digital corporations; and
- examining the entanglement of power and knowledge that structures the techno-feudal configuration,
we may arive at a much more critical appraisal of the concept that highlights its limitations and heuristic potential.
