Digital Bills of Rights Database – finalist for the YUFE Outstanding Collaboration Award 2026

We are proud to share that the Digital Constitutionalism Network’s Digital Bills of Rights Database has been shortlisted as a finalist for the 2026 YUFE Outstanding Collaboration Award.

The award, organised by the YUFE (Young Universities for the Future of Europe) Alliance, celebrates innovative cross-border research collaborations among its partner universities. The Digital Bills of Rights project – led by Dr. Dennis Redeker (University of Bremen) and Dr. Mariëlle Wijermars (Maastricht University), in collaboration with colleagues and the Digital Constitutionalism Network – has been recognised for its contribution to advancing research and policy engagement in the field of digital governance.

Launched in 2021, the collaboration analyses global digital policies to identify the values shaping our online world. Through the Digital Constitutionalism Network and the REMIT Research Horizon project, the team was bale to create an open-access resource that transforms complex normative texts, such as the UN Global Digital Compact, into actionable data for researchers, policymakers, civil society actors and students.

Dr. Mariëlle Wijermars noted that a highlight of the project was the presentation of the database at the 2025 UN Internet Governance Forum, where it was showcased to global policymakers and civil society representatives.

Being shortlisted for the YUFE Outstanding Collaboration Award highlights the importance of sustained, cross-border cooperation in shaping the future of digital constitutionalism research. It reflects the YUFE spirit of innovation and collaboration that also underpins the Digital Constitutionalism Network’s work.
